I needed some slide breaks for a project I’m working on, so I set up the recorder and did a few. I’m using my PRS which is set up for slide and tuned to open-E. I ran that into my Z-Drive and then into the Z-Lux. I have two clips here. They are not really music, just some slide breaks that I hope to use later on. Thought you might like to hear what the Z-Lux sounds like with this setup.
First clip is fairly dark – here are the settings:
Second set I changed to the cleaner channel on the Z-Drive and brought up the treble a bit on both the Z-Drive and the Z-Lux:

I did something that I usually don’t do on a gig this week – tried three new items all at the same time. It is bad form doing that – usually in testing, you want to change one thing at a time, so that you know what precipitated the differences you’re observing. But in this case, I had a good reason.
A friend pointed me to this new stomp box on the market. It’s called the Ethos Overdrive, by Custom Tones Inc. (http://customtonesinc.com/). Give a listen to the sound clips there. I don’t believe I’ve heard anyone sound like Robben Ford, but those clips sure do have some similarity to his tones. Check it out!
